意訳が結構あるかもです。
「痩せ我慢とわかっていたって 僕が先にさよならを言わなきゃいけないんだ」は、友は平然を装っているけれども、長年の付き合いから相手がやせ我慢をしていることはわかる。つまり、相手は自分と別れたくはないということに、主人公は気づいている。そういう別れを切り出しにくい状況でも、自分が先にさよならを言い出すべきだと主人公は思っているということだと解釈しました。
